The Institut français du Royaume-Uni, Warner Classics and Gramophone are proud to present an evening with the conductor John Nelson, Stephen Wright, Chairman & Managing Director, Wright Music Management, and Bertrand Castellani, VP International Catalogue Warner Classics. Hosted by Gramophone’s Editor-in-Chief James Jolly, the evening will feature live music by the Egyptian soprano Fatma Said, who has established a reputation as an extraordinarily gifted musician and is a former member of the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist scheme. She will be joined by the pianist Roger Vignoles.

Join us for an evening of music and conversation marking the 150th anniversary of Hector Berlioz, the French Romantic composer who created some of the greatest and most enduring works in the classical and operatic repertoire such as Les Troyens, Symphonie fantastique, Roméo et Juliette, Les Nuits d’été and Benvenuto Cellini.

John Nelson will conduct Berlioz’s monumental Requiem, Grande Messe des Morts, in the historic setting of St Paul’s Cathedral to mark 150 years – to the day, on Friday, March 8 – since the composer’s death. The renowned American conductor, Berlioz expert and current recipient of Gramophone’s Recording of the Year Award for his Erato set of Les Troyens, leads a performance of over 300 musicians, featuring the Philharmonia Chorus and London Philharmonic Choir alongside the Philharmonia Orchestra, and with tenor soloist Michael Spyres.
